so I went in to the lab yesterday for a routine gestational diabetes test. here's how it goes... you have 5 minutes to drink a glucose/sugar solution, you have to wait 1 hour, then they draw your blood. the results should show how your body processes sugar and whether or not you have gestational diabetes.
when i arrive, the lady asks me if i wanted lemon lime or orange flavored "soda." i ask for the orange flavored one. she hands it over and tells me to finish it within in 5 mins and the one hour waiting time will start from the time i finish. this was definitely not orange soda - it was much thicker and syrupy... it was really gross actually, and had it not been ice cold, i probably would have thrown up. i down the thing in 4 minutes and sit patiently in the waiting room for what seems like the longest hour of my life. thank god for my g-phone. :)
it'll take a few days for me to get the results but i'm hoping for a negative result. i heard gestational diabetes is a pain in the butt!
